Reliability Task

Reliability

Task) how would you collect reliable data on the following topics;

-          Editor’s letters in women’s and men’s magazines

-          Brian Cox’s tweets

-          Michael Gove’s comments on education

If I was to look at an Editor’s letter in men’s and women’s magazines I would collect the same amount of samples for each gender, so three examples from a women’s magazine and 3 example’s from men’s magazine and compare the lexis used in each one to fine the similarities and the differences depending on the gender it is aimed at.

If I was to look at Brian Cox’s tweets, I would pick a generous selection, so maybe 6 or 7, and then I would be able to compare the day the tweet was posted and the mood or behaviour change over a period of time, therefore being able to analyse what you need to.

If I was to look at Michael Gove’s comments on education I would research interviews or transcripts of his comments and then apply the information given and the way he talks about education to any theories.
